Gay Lynn Byrd, Board Member
Gay Lynn Byrd is a Wyoming rancher, wildlife conservationist, and longtime public servant with deep roots in the state’s western heritage.
Raised on the Allemand Ranch northwest of Douglas, Byrd earned a degree in agricultural business from Montana State University before returning home to help operate the family ranch alongside her husband, raising cattle and sheep while managing wildlife habitat.
In 2017, she was appointed by Governor Matt Mead to represent District 7 on the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission, serving Converse, Natrona, and Fremont counties. During her tenure, Byrd was a strong advocate for wildlife conservation, helping establish the WYldlife Fund, combat aquatic invasive species, promote wildlife crossings, and balance working landscapes with healthy ecosystems.
