In your words, what does your job entail?
My job at the land trust is to support landowners achieve their conservation goals. Conservation easements provide landowners the assurance that their hard work and dedication to their land is not spoiled by subdivision and rural residential development. I coordinate the fundraising, due diligence, and administrative processes associated with protecting Wyoming’s working ranchlands.
What is your favorite part about your job?
Having a connection to the private landowners and landscapes of Wyoming. I am so fortunate to connect with people and places that are often overlooked and undervalued by the general population.
What is the most common question you get from folks? What is your go-to answer for that question?
How much can I get for a conservation easement? The answer is always “it depends”. Conservation easements are a real property transaction where the type and amount of development on the property is restricted. This has a value, which we can pay landowners for, but the value is dependent on the location of the property, the type of property, and the current real estate market trends.
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?
My days off are either spent at home in the flower garden with my wife, wrestling with my kids, or taking the family up to the hills for adventure.
