In July of 2002 a donated conservation easement was placed on 160 acres of land owned by Tom O’Leary, one of the Wyoming Stock Growers Land Trust’s Honorary Board members and a Founding Supporter. The easement is located on the J Bar J Ranch in Carbon County and is bordered on three sides by the Pennoc Mountain Wildlife Unit. The north border of the property is adjacent to private property upon which there is a conservation easement with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. The property maintains numerous habitat values, including elk crucial range, wetlands, and greater sage-grouse core area. J Bar J was purchased by longtime supporters and friends, Doug and Kathy Campbell, in 2012. The Campbells quietly work to better their community on all levels, and we are lucky to be able to work alongside them as partners in conservation each year.
